• FCA updated its guidance page on notification and disclosure of net short positions to notify of upcoming changes to UK list of exempted shares following biannual review.

Update

• The FCA is currently undertaking its biannual review of UK list of exempted shares, which is set out in Article 16(2) of the UK Short Selling Regulations (UK SSR).
• While conducting this review, FCA's current list of exempted shares will remain valid and apply to all positions up to and including 31 December 2024.
• Information on the webpage gives details of current list, how biennial review is done.

Effectiveness

• The updated list of exempted shares will be uploaded to the FCA's website on 1 January 2025, and will apply to all net short positions from that date.
