Sweden – INS Seeks to Amend Laws on Foreign Direct Investment

On 26 June 2024, SWE INS announced it has approached government offices to seek amendments to the law on the review of foreign direct investments.

  • Insurance and occupational pension companies should be exempted from the obligation to notify certain acquisitions to the Inspectorate for strategic products.
  • SWE INS previously informed the Inspectorate for strategic products that the notification obligation entails major, and in some cases insurmountable, application problems and is now taking a step further to bring about a change in the law.
  • The amendment would exempt insurance and occupational pension companies from the reporting obligation or limit the reporting obligation for such companies.
