On 18 December 2023, UK FCA issued the promised update on implementation of the change in the reporting threshold for reporting of net short positions to regulator.
- Confirms it will be ready to receive notifications at 0.2% threshold from 5 February 2024.
- Firms should make necessary system/process changes to allow for such submissions.
- Until threshold change implemented, firms required to continue to report short selling at or above 0.1% and below 0.2%, but no short selling reports required for these from 5 February 2024.
- For open short positions at 0.2% and above reached before, on or after 5 February 2024, short selling reports will be required as usual when the position falls below 0.2%.
