On 16 June 2020, IND SEBI issued (substantial acquisition of shares and takeovers) (amendment) regulations, 2020 which enter to force on publication in official gazette.

• Regulation 3, in sub-regulation(2), states that the acquisition beyond 5% to 10% of voting rights in target company shall be allowed in 2020-21 only in respect of acquisition by a promoter after preferential issue of equity shares by target company.
• In regulation 6, sub-regulation(1), relaxation from first proviso is granted till 31 March 2020
