Turkey – New Initial Substantial Shareholding Threshold Effective

As of the close of trading on 11 September, the CMB of Turkey has effectively lowered its initial substantial shareholding reporting threshold to 3% from 5%.

Background:

  • new disclosure threshold (3%) refers to issuers whose shares are traded on a stock exchange;
  • existing disclosure threshold of 5% will remain in place, along with the new initial disclosure threshold of 3%;
  • 3% threshold will apply to disclosable events occurring from the close of business on 11 September 2026 onwards.
