• JPN METI set up a study group on ideal approach to fair acquisitions / takeovers, held meeting.
• Aim to consider matters incl. conduct/stance of relevant parties in relation to takeover proposals and ideal takeover defense measures, to develop a fair M&A market.
• As well as increase the possibility of acquisitions that enhance corporate value.

Next Steps

• Plans to establish or amend guidelines around spring next year after discussions, in view of matters not covered by existing guides and trend for cross-border M&As.
