On 16 September 2019, CFTC approved final position limits rule, with some amendments.

  • Received one comment from OneChicago, registered with SEC and the only domestic exchange listing SFPs focused on SFPs not being identical to equity options, reasons.
  • SEC adopted "estimated deliverable supply", proposed despite challenge in comment.
  • CFTC explained why are keeping proposed position limits, revised calculations, DCM expectations for calculations, Commissioner Berkovitz supported final rule, changes.
  • Said aligns equity-based SFP position limits with limits national securities exchanges apply to equity options, together with margin, helps to level regulatory playing field.
  • Effective date of final rule will be in 60 days from pending federal register publication.
